"As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, it can be tempting to go into hibernation mode, reaching for the woolly hat and ditching the makeup. Just because it’s getting colder, there’s no excuse to hide away, in fact, now is the time to try something new and brighten your look. A couple of simple, on trend changes will make you feel great and can be your own personal war on the grey British weather!
Classic red lips were everywhere on the autumn/winter 2012 catwalks. Be it crimson, berry or pillar-box red; every time the weather cools it seems we just can’t help reaching for the lipstick to brighten our wardrobe! It’s such a key trend for the new season and if you’ve never tried it before, why not give it a go at this year’s Christmas party? Go on...be brave! Lighter berry shades are great for a pretty look when teamed with a natural base and eyes; however, darker shades like burgundy, look striking and glamorous both day and night.

Update your hairstyle with a side parting for the new season, It’s a great way to refresh your look without undergoing an expensive cut and re-style. Wear your hair loose in a side parting for a soft look or tie it back in a low slung pony or bun to give it a sharper style, another hit on the runways this year.
If all else fails, you can always resort to the classic smoky eye and nude lip, always a timeless classic and will match any outfit day or night.Do remember though, harsh winter temperatures can be a nightmare for our hair and complexion, so no matter what trend you choose to follow this winter 2012, make sure that your makeup includes a skin care base that will help protect you from the winter cold and anti-frizz products for your hair can be a real life saver."
